This is absolutely fantastic, Matt. I love the examples of immersive stories from camp. Have you thought about whether something like this could work in other contexts? In other words, is there something particular/special about the camping experience? Is it because it’s away from home, because it’s a bounded experience in terms of time? Could a classroom use this for an entire academic year, for example?
I work as an English teacher here in Brazil. Last year I made an experience, My students used their creativity to create their own characters and during the year they used their characters to create their own stories utilizing what they were learning in the classes, of course they created kings, queens, princesses and princes, and it was funny to see that their stories would have intersections with other students' stories, it was satisfying to see how engaged they were in this.
Stories are amazing to reach the heart of the students.
